Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to visit Le Meridien Maldives Resort and Spa, nestled on the beautiful Thilamaafushi Island in the Lhaviyani Atoll. A Stay in Paradise: The Water Pool Villa
We were fortunate enough to stay in one of the overwater villas on the eastern side of the resort. These villas offer a front-row seat to breathtaking sunsets and provide direct access to the ocean, making them a dream come true for any beach lover. The water in front of our villa was consistently calm during our four-day stay, and at ankle depth, it was perfect for easy ocean access and snorkeling. We discovered numerous “coral spots” teeming with small fish, sea urchins, and other marine life right outside our door.

The food at Le Meridien Maldives was fantastic, with a wide range of options to suit every palate. Breakfast was a buffet with numerous live stations, offering everything from fresh fruit to made-to-order omelets. For lunch and dinner, guests could choose between the buffet restaurant or several specialty restaurants, each serving high-quality dishes.

- Generous Portions: The food portions were quite large, so we recommend the half-board meal plan for those who prefer smaller meals. A heavy breakfast (served until 11 am) can easily carry you through the day, allowing for an early dinner. If you get hungry in the afternoon, the resort offers pizza for a delightful tea break.
- Farm to Table: All vegetables and herbs used at the resort are grown in-house, and guests have the option to enjoy farm-to-table meals.
Exploring the House Reef
One of the most addictive parts of our stay was exploring the house reef. Each morning, we took a 15-minute stroll from our villa through the sea, swimming and walking towards the reef. The marine life was abundant and diverse, offering a new discovery with every snorkel session.
Activities and Exceptional Service
The resort offers a range of activities and services that made our stay even more memorable.
- Five-Star Service: The staff were incredibly polite and helpful, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect.

- Non-Motorized Water Activities: Many activities, such as glass-bottom kayaking, were free and offered a fun way to explore the ocean.
Sustainable Efforts
Le Meridien Maldives is committed to sustainability, which is evident in their maintenance of a large seagrass area in front of the main beach. This area attracts turtles and provides a natural habitat for them. Snorkeling here in the morning often meant spotting turtles having their breakfast.
